WHAT WE DID

Brand Identity, Character Design, Copywriting, Environmental Activation and Social

  • Oakley Greens is a family friendly golf and gather featuring 36 holes of miniature golf, shipping container food vendors and a hole-in-one full service bar coming to Oakley, Cincinnati.

    Oakley Greens approached the studio for brand identity, copywriting and environmental activation considerations in order to get them on the green upon their opening. Rethinking the outdoor bar and shipping container concept through the lens of golf was the design challenge and the studio stepped up to the tee and developed an appropriate approach to appease both.

    Inspired both by the city of Oakley and classic miniature golf ephemera, Durham designed a graphic identity for Oakley Greens that feels familiar, fun and fresh. A golf bag full of assets were chipped in for the Oakley Green kit of parts. While folks can join in on food and drink, or just want to putt around with their buds, it was necessary to cater to both of these offerings by delivering multiple types of assets.

    From typographic badge lockups and course-inspired brand colors to cheeky illustrations of their mascot, ‘Mr. Oakley’, Oakley Greens has the proper equipment to help stay on par.

MR. OAKLEY

Meet Mr. Oakley, the official mascot of Oakley Greens Golf & Gather! Inspired by classic mini-golf ephemera, Mr. Oakley was designed with the many offerings of Oakley Greens in mind. Whether you’re hitting hole-in-ones out on the courses, or grabbing a pizza and pints inside, Mr. Oakley has the ability to hold items that reflect each activity found on-site.

APPROACH

The approach to the Oakley Greens identity was to embrace the graphic nature of classic mini-golf courses we all know and love, but also retain it’s modern outdoor shipping-container bar experience. Building off some of the bones found in our identity for Covington Yard, Durham developed a system that blends mini-golf, mocktails, cocktails and Madtree beer.
